He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

Welcome to Escalator2

This is my new blog. I’m just getting started with it and this is my first attempt to go public in sharing my thoughts and writings both fresh and some old. I’ve needed one place to organize them and Mari, my wife suggested a “blog”. I’m not sure how they work yet but I plan to figure it out and will be posting soon. The theme of Escalator2 is found in the passage; “He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.” This is a reference to the experience of Jacob in Genesis 28:12 with a view of the stairway of heaven, “an escalator” with the messengers of God travelling between heaven and earth. From time to time, I have felt inspired to share various thoughts from a heavenly perspective and began several years ago sending emails to a small list of family and friends who had asked to receive them. I received many encouraging comments and began publishing “The Escalator” over a two year period. At some point I plan to add these previous posts to the blog in the archives along with other writings. (as soon as I can get a copy of them and figure out how to do it)

So now I will began the next phase; ESCALATOR2 as in the new, improved, version hopefully with meaningful upgrades  So, I am both a bit excited and have some trepedation about it as I have wanted to do this for some time now and I’m finally getting to it. So here goes!

Good writing, Jim. As I have grown older and, hopefully, wiser I have come to understand that the only true and effective thing that I can do enable the fruit of the Spirit to be at work and visible to others in me, as opposed to the numerous works of the flesh, is to raise my little white flag and surrender, realizing that I simply cannot do one thing to aid myself in the battle in which I find myself. Surrendering is rating, in Him. He alone can turn from the power of the flesh and overcome. He alone walks “by” the Spirit, for He is one with Him. Jesus desperately wants to live His life in me. This miracle has been enabled and only I, through unbelief in this great secret, can prevent it from being realized.

Thank for writing. Keep it up, brother.

I just saw my typo…”rating” should be “resting.” But, He also rates, or qualifies, us as well. Through surrender we do not fall short of His glory in us. Absent surrender, the only glory evident in us is our own; thus, we fall short of His glory. Enjoy your day today! Give a hug to Mari for me.
